sitemap.xml Generator from a URL List
Paste a list of URLs, one per line, and get a ready-to-upload sitemap.xml. Apply lastmod, changefreq and priority to every URL at once, or override them on individual lines. Invalid URLs and duplicates are dropped automatically, and XML special characters such as & are escaped. To inspect a URL's parts, try the URL Parser; for page-level tags, see the Meta Tag Generator.
🔒 Runs in your browser · Your data is never sent to a server
Add a date, a change frequency and/or a priority after a URL, separated by spaces, to override the defaults for that line only (any order, e.g. https://example.com/a 2026-10-01 weekly 0.8).
Skipped lines
How to use
- Paste your URLs into the URL list, one per line.
- Optionally set lastmod, changefreq and priority (applied to every URL).
- Check the skipped lines, then copy or download the XML.
- Upload it as sitemap.xml at your site root and submit it in Search Console.
Notes
- Serve the sitemap from the same host (domain and protocol) as the URLs it lists, at the site root or above the listed paths.
- URL fragments (everything after #) are removed, and non-ASCII characters are percent-encoded.
- Google largely ignores changefreq and priority, and ignores lastmod when it does not match real modification dates. If you do not know the true date, leave lastmod empty.
- A single file may hold at most 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Beyond that, split into several files and tie them together with a sitemap index.
- The URLs are processed only in your browser and are never sent to a server.
Glossary
sitemap.xml
An XML file that lists the URLs of a site for search engines, helping crawlers discover pages they might otherwise miss.
lastmod
A page's last modification date, written as YYYY-MM-DD or as a full W3C Datetime with a time.
changefreq / priority
A hint about how often a page changes and its relative importance (0.0 to 1.0) within the site. They are only hints, and search engines are free to ignore them.
sitemap index
An XML file that bundles several sitemap files into one entry point, used by sites with more than 50,000 URLs.
FAQ
Can I set a different date or priority per URL?
Yes. Add values after the URL separated by spaces, such as "2026-10-01", "weekly" or "0.8". They override the shared settings for that line only, in any order.
What happens with more than 50,000 URLs?
The list is split automatically into sitemap-1.xml, sitemap-2.xml and so on, each within 50,000 URLs and 50 MB, and a sitemap-index.xml tying them together is generated. Submit the index in Search Console.
How are duplicates and invalid URLs handled?
Non-http(s) or unparsable URLs are left out and listed with their line number and reason. URLs that differ only by a root trailing slash (example.com vs example.com/), host letter case or a #fragment are treated as the same URL and de-duplicated. Path trailing slashes such as /about and /about/ are kept as separate URLs.
Do I have to include changefreq and priority?
No. Google mostly ignores them, and it disregards lastmod when it does not match real changes. If you do not know the accurate date, leaving them empty is fine.
