Japanese Resume (Rirekisho) Maker for A4 Printing
Fill in your name, address, education, work history, licenses, motivation and preferences, and a JIS-style Japanese resume (two A4 pages) builds itself in a life-size preview, ready to print. Write each history entry on one line like "2015-04 Sample High School, enrolled" and the year and month columns are filled in for you, in Japanese era years or Western years. For the photo, load the image you made with the ID Photo Maker. Everything is processed in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
🔒 Runs in your browser · Your data is never sent to a server
This tool handles personal data. What you type and your photo are processed only in this browser and are never sent anywhere. Your entries are stored on this device only when you press "Save in browser" below (the photo is never stored). On a shared computer, press "Delete saved data" when you are done.
Choose a portrait photo (4:3 tall) or drop it here. An image made with the ID Photo Maker works. The photo is not stored.
Life-size preview (A4, 2 pages)
How to use
- Fill in basic details such as "Date", "Name", "Date of birth" and "Current address", then choose an "ID photo".
- Write "Education", "Work history" and "Licenses and certificates" one entry per line, like "2015-04 Sample High School, enrolled". Then fill in "Motivation" and "Requests".
- Check the two pages in the life-size preview, and use "Save in browser" to keep a draft for next time. Press "Print", set the paper to A4 and the scale to 100%.
Notes
- The layout is an original arrangement modeled on the JIS-style form and does not match store-bought rirekisho paper exactly. If an employer asks for its own form, or for a handwritten one, follow that.
- You can print up to 21 rows of education and work history, 8 rows of licenses, 11 lines of motivation and 8 lines of requests. Long lines wrap automatically, and Print is disabled when something does not fit.
- In the print dialog set the paper to A4, the scale to 100% (actual size) and turn off headers and footers. Test on plain paper first.
- With Japanese era years, an entry that has only a month is judged by the middle of that month. Check the result around era changes (January 1989, April and May 2019).
- "Save in browser" writes only to this browser's local storage on this device. The photo is too large to store. On a shared computer, press "Delete saved data" afterwards.
- The printed resume itself is in Japanese regardless of the page language, since it is meant for Japanese employers.
Glossary
Rirekisho (履歴書)
The standard Japanese resume form. It lists personal details, a photo, education, work history, licenses, motivation and requests in a fixed layout, and is often handwritten or printed on a set form.
Wareki (和暦)
Japanese era years such as Reiwa (since May 2019) and Heisei (1989 to April 2019). Many resumes use them for the year columns, but Western years are also accepted.
FAQ
Is anything I type or my photo sent anywhere?
No. Your text and photo are processed only in your browser and never sent to a server. Only when you press "Save in browser" are your text entries written to this browser's local storage on this device. The photo is never stored.
How do I write history entries so they fill the year columns?
Write one entry per line, starting with a Western year and month, like "2015-04 Sample High School, enrolled". Formats such as "2015年4月" and "令和元年5月" also work. A line without a date (for example "現在に至る") goes into the content column as it is. The closing "以上" is added for you.
It says my text does not fit. What can I do?
Education and work history take up to 21 rows, licenses 8, motivation 11 and requests 8. Long lines wrap and use extra rows, so remove entries or shorten the wording. The Print button stays disabled until everything fits.
How do I add my ID photo?
Choose a portrait photo with a 4:3 (tall) ratio and it is fitted to the photo box (40 mm by 30 mm). Other ratios are cropped around the center. An image from the ID Photo Maker works. If you skip the photo, stick a printed one on the paper.
The second page is shifted or has odd margins when printed.
In the print dialog set the paper to A4, the scale to 100% (actual size) and turn off headers and footers. "Fit to page" shrinks the sheet and leaves extra margins.
