Screen Recorder

Pick your whole screen, an app window or a browser tab, record it, and save the result as a video file (WebM). Handy for documenting steps or reproducing a bug. The recording never leaves this page. To check your audio input, try the Microphone Test.

🔒 Runs in your browser · Your data is never sent to a server

Records tab or system audio. You must tick "Share audio" in the sharing dialog (some browsers and operating systems cannot capture it). Your microphone is not recorded.

Recording stops automatically after 30 minutes (a cap so memory does not fill up).

Press "Start recording" and your browser will ask which screen, window or tab to record.

How to use

  1. Tick "Record audio too" if you want sound.
  2. Press "Start recording", then choose a screen, window or tab in your browser’s picker.
  3. Press "Stop recording" when you are done (the browser’s own stop-sharing button works too).
  4. Check the preview, then press "Download video" to save it.

Notes

  • Whatever is on screen is recorded as is. Check that passwords, notifications and personal information are not visible before you start.
  • The saved format depends on the browser (WebM in Chrome and Edge, MP4 in Safari). If your player cannot open WebM, convert it with a video converter.
  • The recording is kept in memory, so it is limited to 30 minutes. It is not meant for long sessions.
  • Browsers on phones often do not support screen recording.
  • If the sharing dialog has no "Share audio" option, audio cannot be captured for that kind of source.

Glossary

WebM

A video format for the web. It is the standard recording format in Chrome, Edge and Firefox and plays in browsers and players such as VLC.

Tab, window and full-screen capture

The recording areas you can choose in the browser’s sharing dialog. Tab capture can include that tab’s audio.

FAQ

Is my recording sent to a server?

No. Recording happens entirely in your browser and the video is held in browser memory. It goes nowhere until you download it, and it disappears when you close the page.

Can it record audio too?

Tick "Record audio too" and choose "Share audio" in the sharing dialog to capture tab or system audio. This is not available in every browser, operating system or source type. Your microphone is not recorded.

Does it work on a phone?

Most phone browsers do not support screen capture (getDisplayMedia), so it will not work there. Use desktop Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

How long can I record?

Up to 30 minutes. The recording is kept in memory, so it stops automatically at the limit. For longer sessions, use your operating system’s recorder or dedicated software.

The saved video will not play.

Chrome and Edge save WebM files. A player without WebM support cannot open them, so convert the file to MP4 or another format with a video converter.
