QR Code Reader

Point your camera at a QR code or pick an image file to read what is inside. URLs, Wi-Fi details and similar content are recognized automatically. Everything is decoded on this page, and no video or image is sent anywhere. Need to make one instead? Try the QR Code Generator.

Result

Nothing scanned yet.

How to use

  1. Press "Start camera" and choose "Allow" when the browser asks for camera access.
  2. Show the QR code to the camera; it is read automatically and appears under Result.
  3. No camera? Choose (or drag & drop) an image file that contains a QR code.
  4. Use "Copy" to copy the content. For URLs, check the address before pressing "Open link".

Notes

  • Scanned URLs are never opened automatically. QR codes are used for phishing, so check the address before you open it.
  • If your browser supports the BarcodeDetector API, common barcodes (such as EAN/UPC) can be read in addition to QR codes. Other browsers read QR codes only.
  • Video and images are not stored, and all decoding happens in your browser. The camera stops when you press Stop or leave the page.
  • Dirty, glared, blurry or very small codes may fail to scan. Make sure the whole code is lit and in focus.

Glossary

QR code

A two-dimensional barcode that holds data in both directions. It can store URLs, text, Wi-Fi details and more, and error correction lets it be read even when partly damaged.

QR phishing (quishing)

A scam that sends you to a convincing fake site through a QR code to steal passwords or card details. After scanning, check the domain before opening the link.

FAQ

Is my camera feed or the scanned content uploaded or stored?

No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded or saved. The scan history disappears when you close the page.

Can I scan without a camera?

Yes. Choose or drag & drop an image file (a photo or screenshot) that contains a QR code. If the camera does not work, also check that camera access is allowed in the browser site settings.

Can it read barcodes such as EAN/UPC too?

Only in browsers that support the BarcodeDetector API, which can read common barcodes. Other browsers read QR codes only.

How do I open a scanned URL safely?

Links are never opened automatically. Check that the domain is what you expect before pressing "Open link", and be careful with unfamiliar codes or stickers pasted over an original code.
